A Nun Taught Me How to Read Tarot
(and yes, it was super awesome)

In 1997 as an undergraduate at Gonzaga University, I met an elderly nun who transformed my life. A member of a prominent Catholic community, Sister Dominique was the epitome of "wise woman." She was kind, compassionate, radically honest, brilliant, creative, and skilled in a diverse array of artistic and sacred mediums. Sister Dominique introduced me to tarot and taught me how to read the cards, encouraging and affirming my gifts of storytelling and intuition.

The true gift of her friendship was that she delighted in me and in my mystical relationship with the Divine. I have a tendency towards melancholy and depression ~ life is a challenge and especially as a young adult I felt like I didn't fit in ~ and through tarot and other spiritual practices, I learned how to align and get "in the flow," even (especially!) when things were difficult.

May you be surrounded by beings who delight in you. May you feel understood, affirmed, honored, and celebrated by the seen and unseen. And may you recognize your guides when you come to the threshold.
